From the second we landed, the team made everything so easy. Our guide met us at the airport with a huge smile and whisked us away to Kampong Phluk. Seeing the stilted houses and the flooded forest was the perfect way to decompress after a long flight. It wasn’t just a transfer; it was a beautiful introduction to the Cambodian way of life. Highly recommend if you want to hit the ground running!
If you’re okay with a bit of sweat, skip the tuk-tuk and take the bikes! Cycling through the forest paths between the temples felt like a real adventure. Our guide knew all the ‘back door’ routes to avoid the big tour buses. We saw the South Gate and Bayon from angles I don’t think most tourists ever see. It’s active, fun, and the breeze while riding is a lifesaver!
We wanted to see the temples that haven’t been ‘restored’ to death, and this 3-day trip delivered. Beng Mealea was a highlight—feeling like an explorer climbing over mossy stones and vines. The pace was excellent, and the storytelling from our guide brought the history of the Khmer Empire to life. It’s a deep dive into history that feels much more personal than a standard day trip.
Trekking Kulen Mountain was the highlight of our entire Cambodia trip. The hike is challenging but rewarding, and reaching the waterfall for a swim felt like heaven. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the local flora and the sacred history of the mountain. Combining the rugged trek with the classic Angkor temples gave us the best of both worlds—nature and culture.

We visited local villages where the people were so welcoming, and we learned about traditional weaving and farming. I’ve never experienced anything like camping near a sacred waterfall. Waking up to the sounds of the jungle and having coffee by the water before heading to Angkor Wat was magical. The equipment was great, the food was delicious (and plenty of it!), and the team handled every detail perfectly. It’s a ‘bucket list’ experience for anyone who loves the outdoors.
